Aberdeen and Rio de Janeiro based Calibre International has seen an upsurge in activity in its EntradaB2B.com operation as a result of the recent UKTI/SDI Energy Mission to Brazil.
Backed by leading organisations. including Brodies and Campbell Dallas in Scotland and Brazilian import agent, Nicomex, EntradaB2B.com works on a confidential basis to facilitate the entry of UK companies to the growing Brazilian offshore sector.
Aberdeen-based Calibre Director, Jim Cargill – whose experience in the oil and gas industry includes living and working in Brazil as far back as the mid-1990’s – was part of the mission. He said: “During the week in Brazil we undertook further work for one of our clients, resulting in an understanding for them to join with a major Brazilian company on a development project for Petrobras.”
“We are presently in the midst of formulating a Pilot Project proposal to Petrobras for another of our clients after a successful presentation to the Petrobras team in Rio de Janeiro.
“EntradaB2B is also examining market entry strategies on behalf of a number of other Aberdeen-based companies, reflecting the increasing interest in breaking into this important market.”
The mission was Scotland’s largest ever oil and gas trade mission to Brazil and was aimed at capitalising on the skills and expertise developed over many years in the North Sea.
Cargill added: “We see many more opportunities for UK companies in Brazil and the relationships we have developed in operational centres like Macae and Rio de Janeiro mean we can act quickly to assist companies enter the market, both through partnerships and by establishing local subsidiaries.”
